Call it a role reversal. Call it paying back a favor. Call it whatever you like, but Paste artist of the decade Sufjan Stevens has a new album in the works, and he’s asked his friends in The National to help him out. Stevens has previously worked on The National’s Boxer and High Violet,, but now it’s time for him to take the reins once again.
“We’ve played on some of the tracks and been listening to some of the stuff as he’s been working on it,” Bryce Dessner of The National recently revealed in an interview with Exclaim!. He refused to give away too many details about the album out of respect for Stevens, but promised that it would sound unlike anything we’ve heard from the Illinoisemaker before.
