It’s all happening for My Morning Jacket: a successful appearance on a John Prine tribute album, a slew of tour dates across the U.S. this fall including a five-night stand in New York, opening for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and appearances at several big festivals are keeping the boys busy. Despite a pretty packed schedule, guitarist Carl Broemel has a solo album on the way.

“I think there’s a lot of trying to be aware of what you’re doing now, versus dwelling on things, or worrying about what’s gonna happen later,” Broemel said in a statement. “A lot of the songs are really just me talking to myself, trying to make sense of things in my head.”

Broemel’s solo foray is supposedly set to be a folky affair. Samples of the first single, “Heaven Knows,” have already popped up on a couple of blogs.

The album, titled All Birds Say, drops August 31 from ATO Records.
