M Ward and Zooey Deschanel’s folksy side project, She & Him, brought Salt Lake City’s free, indie-skewed, summer-long Twilight Concert Series to an end last Thursday. Sub Pop’s throwback girl group Dum Dum Girls opened the evening.
Over the course of eight Thursday nights the Twilight Concert Series, now in its 23rd season, hosted a diverse set of performers from Matisyahu to The New Pornographers to Big Boi. As is the series’ practice, the eight concerts were all free, and included a host of local Salt Lake food, beverage and art vendors, all the way down to complimentary bike parking. It’s a regional series, begging to become a known national music brand, and deservedly so. Modest Mouse’s July performance brought over 40,000 folks to Salt Lake City’s sleepy Pioneer Park.
Below are pictures from the performance.
