Tom Waits, Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Many More Nominated for Rock and Rock Hall of Fame

Although the inductees won’t be decided until Dec. 26, the 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction nominees include Alice Cooper, Donovan, LL Cool J, Tom Waits, Beastie Boys, Bon Jovi, Dr. John, Chic, Neil Diamond, J. Geils Band, Chuck Willis, Joe Tex, Donna Summer, Darlene Love and Laura Nyro.

According to The Rock Hall’s website, typically about five to seven artist falling into the “performers” category gets honored with an induction. Other categories include sidemen (a newer category, established in 2000), non-performers (i.e., producers, songwriters, journalists …) and early influences (trailblazing musicians who made great music pre-rock).

Over 500 music professionals vote on inductees who are eligible for nomination 25 years after the release of their debut single or album.

The 26th Annual Induction Ceremony goes down March 14 at Waldorf-Astoria in Manhattan.
