The Long Surrender, the fan-funded new album from Ohio-based duo Over the Rhine, marks the married couple’s 20th year releasing material together. Produced by Joe Henry, the album will drop Jan. 11.
“With The Long Surrender, our vision was to make a record we couldn’t imagine in advance,” Linford Detweiler, multi-instrumentalist and singer of OtR, said in a statement. “We wanted to be surprised. We wanted to remain open, let the record unfold in real time. Fortunately, Joe loves to be surprised as well.”
Lucinda Williams also appears on the record.
Over the Rhine kick off a U.S. tour Nov. 12.
