Beyonce Knowles and Clint Eastwood are currently in negotiations for a remake of A Star is Born, a film that follows the dying career of a superstar as he is surpassed by a younger performer.
Eastwood would direct Knowles in what would be the third remake of the film. The original was released in 1937, starring Fredric March and Janet Gaynor, and was then remade in 1954 and again in 1976.
The newest release is planned to be a musical version, taking after the 1976 version of the movie. There is no word as to who will play the male lead, but Deadline reports that Warner Bros had hoped to get Will Smith for the part. No further details have emerged from the studio.
Producers of the 1976 version, Billy Gerber, Basil Iwanyk and Jon Peters, will be producing this version as well.
