Raekwon Planning Two New Albums for 2011

After taking part in Wu-Tang Clan’s reunion tour to close 2010, Raekwon is pushing forward into 2011 with plans for not one, but two new records scheduled for release this calendar year.

In a recent interview with Vibe, Raekwon described his upcoming fifth album, Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang, as a “kung fu-heavy concept album.” Raekwon had previously revealed that fellow Wu-Tang members Method Man, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, and GZA will all appear on this record. In addition, the rapper also announced this week that Black Thought, Rick Ross and Jim Jones would make guest appearances on his follow-up to 2009’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… Pt. II.

While Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang remains slated for a March release, Raekwon also recently announced plans to finish 2011 with another record featuring “more DJ-oriented and harmony-based” tracks. In addition, the latter album will feature production by Just Blaze and Kanye West. Between all the kung-fu and harmonies, Raekwon seems destined to have his biggest year in a while.
