Felicia Pearson, known as “Snoop” on the acclaimed television series The Wire, was arrested last night during a raid that occurred in her hometown of Baltimore, Md.
The Baltimore Sun has reported that: “More than 30 people, including the actress known as ‘Snoop’ from the Baltimore-based HBO series The Wire, were arrested Thursday morning across the city and its surrounding counties in connection with a large-scale heroin and marijuana operation.”
Pearson’s character on The Wire was partially based off her real-life experiences growing up. As she detailed in her 2007 memoir Grace After Midnight, the actress had been raised by a mother who was a drug addict. She later became a drug dealer and at age 14 killed a teenager — a crime for which she served time in Jessup State Penitentiary.
Upon being released from prison, Pearson ran into a cast member from The Wire one night at a Baltimore nightclub. The chance encounter eventually led to “Snoop” becoming a cast member herself from 2004-2008.
