On Wednesday at Low End Theory, one of Los Angeles’ great destinations for electronic/bass music, Thom Yorke performed a surprise DJ set, reports The Daily Swarm.
Flying Lotus posted a Facebook message on Tuesday, saying people shouldn’t miss Low End Theory “Thomorrow,” which sparked rumors of Yorke’s involvement.
The bill didn’t include Yorke’s name, which only advertised Feeding People, “who played a storming set of psych-rock sounds.” That billing didn’t deter fans, however, who formed an “around-the-block line” to see Yorke.
The Radiohead frontman eventually made his way on stage at 11 p.m., joined by Flying Lotus. Yorke played “everything from rap to techno, tropicalia to electro-dancehall,” writes The Daily Swarm. “It was an epic night and a masterful stroke of good will and PR, leaving regular patrons agog and new friends with their minds blown that the Radiohead main man himself would possibly be amongst them.”
