The Caldecott-winning author of Where The Wild Things Are is set to publish a new picture book from HarperCollins. Bumble-Ardy will serve as the first book from Maurice Sendak since 1981’s Outside Over There. The book first saw life in the early 1970s as an animated segment for Sesame Street.
The new picture book tells the story of a mischievous pig named Bumble who has managed to reach the age of nine without ever having a birthday party. Of course, matters soon get out of hand after Bumble decides to throw himself a masquerade party and invites all his friends. Like many of Sendak’s other works, Bumble-Ardy “explores the exuberance of young children and the unshakable love between parent (in this case, an aunt) and child,” according to Amazon.com.
Bumble-Ardy is set to be published by HarperCollins Children’s Books in September.
