In a recent interview, Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson stated that he may be retiring soon from touring, citing hallucinations, fatigue and voices in his head.
The 68-year-old musician has grappled with a deteriorating mental health since the ‘60s, but he has continued to tour late into his life. “As I get older it gets harder for me,” he said. “But when I’m sitting down at the keyboard and my band’s behind me, I can do it.”
However, he said he still suffers from stage-fright, worrying if the show would go smoothly. When asked if he would be retiring soon, he responded: “Oh God yes. Another year, maybe. This could be the last time I play [London]. I’m going to miss it but I’m getting a little bit old for touring.”
Wilson is currently scheduled to tour throughout North America this summer, with European dates scheduled for the fall, supporting his critically acclaimed album Brian Wilson Reimagines Gershwin.
