Murder By Death is heading out on tour to promote their latest album, Good Morning, Magpie, and they’ve scooped up former Okkervil River member and multi-instrumentalist Scott Brackett.
“We feel very lucky that we’ve had a long career, and that it isn’t showing any signs of slowing down,” frontman Adam Turla said in a press release. “New songs are pouring out and Scott joining the band adds new instruments and creative ideas we’ve never been able to mess with before.”
“I started out as a hired gun for them,” Brackett said in a statement. “And we really hit it off; it would have been a shame to leave it at that. So when they offered me a spot, I couldn’t say no. The opportunity to make a record and keep touring with them promises too much fun. MBD have been working their asses off for years and I really believe in them. They are great storytellers, solid players, and a class act all the way.”
Murder By Death recently jumped onboard RavenHouse LTD, the management team that organizes bands like Bright Eyes, The Mountain Goats, The Hold Steady and Modest Mouse. The remodeled group will start their first leg of the tour on June 21 in Denali National Park.
Good Morning, Magpie was released in April of last year.
