The L.A. punks of The Bronx turned some heads back in 2009 with their mariachi-inspired side project, but the ensemble became an unexpected success. Mariachi El Bronx will return this summer with Mariachi El Bronx (II), the follow-up to their self-titled debut.
Inspired by the mariachi bands they grew up around in Los Angeles, the band temporarily traded in their hardcore attire and electric guitars for traditional Mexican clothing and instruments. They ended up nabbing opening slots for big-name bands under the mariachi alter ego, including the Killers and Foo Fighters.
The new record is due out Aug. 2, but for now check out their video for “Holy.”
