It feels like it was just yesterday when Scarlett Johansson’s musical chops seemingly came out of nowhere with her partnership with Pete Yorn on the duo’s 2009 record, Break Up, but the actress has continued to tap into her talent and has just been confirmed as a cast member in Once director John Carney’s newest big screen musical.
The film, Can a Song Save Your Life?, will feature Johansson as an up-and-coming singer-songwriter who falls for a washed-up A&R man (Mark Ruffalo is rumored for the role), and the actress will heavily contribute to the movie’s soundtrack. As far as his meeting with Johansson, Carney says,”I went out to Los Angeles to meet Scarlett a couple of months ago. She was everything you could imagine — very hot, elegant and she’s really smart.”
As of now, there is no word on when the film is set to hit theaters.
