Just days after it was announced that Nirvana’s Nevermind will be reissued for the album’s 20th anniversary, another behemoth group has revealed plans to re-release one of their classic albums.
U2 will reissue their album Achtung Baby for its 20th anniversary this fall. The deluxe edition will contain never-before-seen footage and rare recordings of some of their most famous songs.
“I’m blown away listening to some of the rough mixes and the outtakes,” The Edge told Rolling Stone. “There’s some very interesting alternative versions that we discovered of songs that wouldn’t have seen the light of day, alternative lyrics, different arrangement styles — it’s like Achtung Baby out of focus.”
The Irish rockers, who are currently set to headline Glastonbury Festival tonight, are also working on an app for the iPad to accompany the re-releases.
Achtung Baby was originally released Nov. 19, 1991.
