Directed by David Mamet and starring Al Pacino, the controversial HBO
Phil Spector biopic has started production.
The New York Post has released the first image of the film, which stars Pacino as the eccentric producer who, before he was found guilty for the murder of actress/model Lana Clarkson, was a staple in the music industry. Famous for his “Wall of Sound” production, Spector worked with groups including The Ronettes and The Crystals.
The film, which was also written by Mamet, explores the relationship between Spector and his defense attorney Linda Kenney Baden (Bette Midler). In 2007, Spector was put on trial for Clarkson’s murder, resulting in a mistrial. During the trial’s second go around, the producer was found guilty and sentenced to 19 years to life in prison.
The title, as well as other details about the project have yet to be released.
