Lou Reed and Metallica’s collaboration has been shrouded in mystery since it was announced. But today, Loureedmetallica.com has released some new details about the project and promises to update frequently on its progress. The album’s called Lulu, and it’s inspired by Frank Wedekind, the German expressionist playwright behind the “Lulu plays,” which follow a young dancer who is abused.
Reed was working on lyrics and the “musical landscape” for the project in Berlin before he started collaborating with Metallica in 2009. The group completed 10 songs at Metallica’s HQ studio in California.
Lulu will be released on Nov. 1 in the U.S. and Oct. 31 worldwide.
