Ever since Frasier ended its run in 2004, Kelsey Grammer hasn’t had much luck with television series. Both Back To You and Hank failed to make it out of their inaugural seasons. Now that he has ventured off of a major network and away from sitcoms with Starz’s Boss hopefully things will turn around for him.
The good news is that clearly Starz feels that the drama has the potential to be a hit. Boss was renewed for a second 10-episode season before the first season even premieres on Oct. 21. The drama centers on Grammer as Tom Kane, the callous, fictional Mayor of Chicago. He’s powerful, loud and gets what he wants—until his hand starts shaking and he’s forced to see a neurologist. Kane then realizes everything he has worked so hard for could crumble in an instant.
Boss marks the television debut for Gus van Sant, who directed the series’ pilot episode.
