Late last Friday evening, the Associated Press reported that our favorite dysfunctional family will officially return in 2013. After years of speculating that a film based on the Bluths will surface, creator Mitchell Hurwitz announced at the New Yorker Festival in early October that an Arrested Development movie would indeed happen along with a limited run television series.
Original reports said that Showtime would pick up the series, but that rumor was joined by word that a streaming site like Netflix or Hulu would be better suit the cult favorite. Now the AP says that Netflix will in fact provide a home for Hurwitz’s show and will air the show weekly via their Instant Stream option.
Production on Arrested Development 2.0 and the subsequent film is slated to begin in summer 2012.
