Built To Spill
announced today that they’re planning on working on writing a new album. Frontman Doug Martsch told Rolling Stone that the eighth studio full-length will be made up of shorter songs and be self-produced by the band: “I’m trying to keep the songs short and there’s a couple of pretty poppy songs. But they’re all in different stages right now, and it’s hard to tell what real direction they’ll take.”
Songs like “Living Zoo,” “So,” “Never Be The Same,” and “Open” are some tracks to be looking out for as Built To Spill continues to tour next year. According to Martsch, the band will continue to tour extensively throughout 2012, including participating in large festivals like South By Southwest. The new album, which Martsch said should be released sometime in 2012 or 2013, will be the follow-up to 2009’s There Is No Enemy.
