Backed by his New Blood Orchestra, former Genesis leader Peter Gabriel performed a special hour-long show last night for the CBS online live music series, Live on Letterman. In addition, Gabriel made a guest appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman to perform an orchestral rendition of “Red Rain” from his hallmark 1986 album So.

The entirety of the Live on Letterman performance was culled from New Blood, Gabriel’s most recent album, which reinterprets the highlights of his solo catalog using an orchestra rather than a rock band. The set, interspersed with some candid storytelling from Gabriel, began with “Red Rain,” included other classics like “Mercy Street,” “Intruder,” “San Jacinto” and “Solsbury Hill” and closed with a surprise encore of “Biko.”

Gabriel’s hour-long performance is available for streaming, as is his performance of “Red Rain” on Letterman’s actual show. Check them out below:
