Earlier today NME reported that Public Image Ltd. will reissue an extensive portion of their discography in remastered form in 2012 through EMI.
Each of the band’s albums will receive the remastering treatment except Metal Box, which was remastered two years ago. In addition to the seven studio LPs planned for the reissue (First Issue, Flowers of Romance, This Is What You Want… This Is What You Get, Album, Happy?, 9 and That What Is Not), two Public Image Ltd. live albums (Paris in the Spring, Live in Tokyo), a compilation called The Greatest Hits, So Far and singer John Lydon’s solo album Psycho’s Path will also be included in the exhaustive remastering campaign.
Meanwhile, Lydon and company are at work on the ninth Public Image Ltd. record, which Lydon has said will likely be titled This Is PiL. It will be the band’s first album since That What Is Not in 1992. In an interview with the BBC, Lydon explained the new record “is probably going to be called This Is PiL basically because it is, it is all the work, effort and energy we put into this record.”
