LL Cool J will join the ranks of Jon Stewart and Queen Latifah this year when he hosts the 54th Annual Grammy Awards. The smooth-talking rapper-turned-actor will be the show’s first host since Queen Latifah hosted in 2005, People pointed out.
The rapper has hosted the Grammy nominations concert every year since its inception in 2008 and was the first presenter at last year’s award ceremony.
“I’m thrilled to be part of music’s biggest night” LL Cool J said in a statement to People. “”I will always have fond memories of my first Grammy Awards and to now be hosting the Grammy show, in the company of so many other incredible artists, is a dream come true.”
The ceremony will air Feb. 12 on CBS at 8 p.m. EST. Kelly Clarkson, Foo Fighters and Nicki Minaj are slated to perform at the awards.
