It’s a happy Monday for the Happy Mondays.
Lead singer Shaun Ryder has announced a reunion tour for the band.
The spring return of Happy Mondays’ original members will be the first since 1992.
Frontman Ryder told The Guardian, “We all met up last week and some of the lads haven’t seen each other in 10, 15 years. It’s as if we’ve never been apart. We can’t wait to tour.”
The group features Ryder, brother Paul, Paul Davis, Mark Day, Gary Whelan, Rowetta Stachell and Mark “Bez” Berry.
Roweta told BBC Radio Manchester that the band decided, “the reunion would only be special if it was the total, original lineup.”
The band reformed two separate times, once in 1999 and later in 2001 when Paul Ryder extended his “never to perform with my brother again” vow.
Happy Mondays’ UK tour kicks off May 3 in Newcastle.
