Legendary anti-establishment punk rockers The Sex Pistols have officially left Virgin Records to sign a deal with Universal Music Catalogue UK, part of the largest record label in the world.
The band and the label plan to release an expanded and repackaged 35th anniversary version of the classic 1977 album Never Mind the Bollocks later in 2012 and expect to plan other events and releases throughout the year, as well.
As Johnny Rotten strangely posted on the band’s official website,
“Music can be great, when done by the great.?
The Sex Pistols are the greatest.?
Universal now has a trophy room,?
Music is the imitation of nature,?
The Sex Pistols are nature,?
So please give generously.?
Unfortunately, the site also noted that, “The back catalogue deal will be for the world excluding North America,” leaving American fans guessing what goodies will be released domestically.
