Jack Kerouac’s 1957 one-scroll autobiography has defined the Beat Generation. Today though, On the Road has been reinvented to fit on the silver screen and the first trailer has just been released.
The French-made, English-language adaptation of Kerouac’s classic vagabond novel has some familiar names-Francis Ford Coppola is the executive producer and the film features Sam Riley, Garrett Hedlund, Kirsten Dunst, Kristen Stewart, Amy Adams and Tom Sturridge.
After watching the trailer, we’re left a little stunned. On the Road was shot in both the U.S. and Canada, with a Brazilian director and an Englishman cast as the lead roll… a very interesting take on the American classic. You’ve caught us, director Walter Salles, now show us what you can do.
On the Road will be released May 23. Take look at the first trailer below.
