After being on the bubble for some time, J.J. Abrams’ Fringe has been renewed for a fifth and final season to wrap up its story.
The show’s future has been uncertain for a while. The first season started with a strong amount of viewers, around 9 million per week, but the current fourth season has been closer to 3 million per week. While live viewers have been down, the show receives a solid amount of viewers that DVR the episodes, which doesn’t count towards ratings.
According to Vulture, this fifth season, which will be composed of 13 episodes, will mean that Fringe will have exactly 100 episodes.
