Anchorman’s director Adam McKay recently teased Ron Burgundy followers with plot details for a forthcoming sequel that Burgundy himself announced.
McKay told Salon, “It’s crazy — Anchorman is a movie that certainly fit the time when it came out and every year it gets more and more relevant. Part of what inspired the movie was just how ridiculous the news had become. It was all ratings driven. The people were getting better and better looking. The weather women were getting outrageously beautiful. It was all about the voice and the hair.”
When asked if he could give a hint about the plot of Anchorman 2 McKay said “I don’t want to give away too much, but I’ll just give a couple pieces of ideas that we’ve kicked around. Keep in mind we’re still writing the story, but I’ll say one phrase for you: custody battle. I’ll give you that. I’ll give you one other one: bowling for dollars.”
Ferrell made an official announcement for the sequel in full character during an appearance on Conan O’Brien’s show. Ferrell has also partnered with Virgin America, Ben Stiller and Judd Apatow to infuse air travel with a little more humor.
According to Virgin the channel will offer, “fresh, funny and edgy original content.” The channel was created by Will Ferrell, Judd Apatow, Adam McKay, Chris Henchy, Ben Stiller, Seth Green will.i.am and Matthew Senreich.
