If any two indie rock vocalists have the vocal chops to sing with the likes of legendary songwriter and musician Van Dyke Parks, it has got to be Fleet Foxes’ Robin Pecknold and Grizzly Bear’s Daniel Rossen. The 69-year old songwriter and producer has been touring off and on since 2010—and now, according to Bella Union, Van Dyke Parks is set to share the Barbican Theatre stage in London with Pecknold and Rossen.
Van Dyke Parks has been something of an institution in the music industry since the 1960s. Although he has released eight solo albums, he is perhaps most famous for his work with Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys. As an accomplished lyricist and producer, he collaborated with Brian Wilson for the long-awaited release of Smile back in 2004, as well as some of the later Beach Boys releases including tracks off Smiley Smile (1967). Since then, Parks has remained active as a solo artist and collaborator, having recently worked with artists like Joanna Newsom, while also releasing his own batch of singles last year.
The concert is set to take place on June 23 at the Barbican Theatre in London. You can check out the event page here.
