The Rolling Stones are not touring this year to celebrate their 50th Anniversary, but New York City’s Iridium has some relief for dedicated fans. It was already announced that Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor is set to play play a six-night run of shows from May 9-14. But now drummer Charlie Watts will follow with four performances running June 29 – July 2. Watt’s is set to perform with his own band for all four appearances.
In a press release Watts joked, “Jazz is my passion. This is the music that I really want to do. The Stones are merely an annoying pastime.”
Today, The Iridium will launch an exclusive Charlie Watts pre-sale for fans through Facebook. The page offers a time-sensitive promo code for a limited number of VIP seats, so be sure to check it out.
The Iridium has been one of New York’s best-known jazz venues for decades. The venue is also known as the home of Les Paul, where the guitarist regularly performed for 12 years.
General tickets go on sale April 16. For more information on The Iridium, check out their official website.
