Jack White and Stephen Colbert are not strangers. Last year, White’s Third Man Records released a Colbert-headspeared-garage-goth 7’’ single “Charlene II (I’m Over You)” in collaboration with The Black Belles.
These days, White’s taking over the streets one yellow, rolling record store and helium balloon launch at a time. With Blunderbuss’ recent release, White has been promoting his debut solo album with an extensive tour, “American Express Unstaged” series and The Lone Ranger score.
When White stopped by The Colbert Report, he didn’t want to do the interview in front of the audience. Colbert then lured the songwriter backstage where the two had a campy chat.
Check out the interview that’s more about Steven Colbert than it is about White and the performance of “Freedom at 21.”
