Victor Hugo’s classic tale of redemption has been well loved in many a theater production, and its next film debut is promising no less. The first trailer features the vocals of Anne Hathaway, who gives a shockingly good, if not raw, rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream.” Hathaway plays struggling mother Fantine, a lower-class citizen in 19th century France.
Les Misérables stars Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Helena Bonham Carter, Amanda Seyfried and Sacha Baron Cohen. The star-studded remake is set to hit theaters Dec. 14. You can watch the trailer below.
