None of Jimi Hendrix’s music will be featured in All is By My Side, the forthcoming biopic about the legendary guitarist starring André 3000, but producers are doing what they can to fill that void with music emblematic of the era.
In lieu of any Hendrix jams, All is By My Side will feature André 3000 performing his own versions of covers Hendrix was known to perform during the period in which the movie takes place. Among the artists covered will be The Beatles and Muddy Waters. The songs were recently recorded in Los Angeles, and were supervised by Danny Bramson, a producer who won a Grammy for his work on Almost Famous.
All is By My Side will feature covers of The Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” “Mannish Boy” by Muddy Waters, “Wild Thing,” Elvis’ “Hound Dog” and Elmore James’ “Bleeding Heart.”
André 3000 will also play covers of “Future Trip” and “Driving South,” two songs that Hendrix played as a backup musicians for Curtis Knight and the Squires.
