has been in the news recently for his Huffington Post and Playboy columns, but he’ll be returning to the big screen soon in Disney’s Oz: The Great and Powerful, the trailer for which premiered at Comic-Con. Michelle Williams and Mila Kunis will also star in the film.
The movie looks to be a prequel for the Wizard of Oz, chronicling the rise of Oz’s actual wizard. The trailer begins with Franco as an ambitious Kansasite who ends up in Oz after he flies his hot air balloon into a tornado. The Oz is far more richly developed and complex than the version from the 1939 movie, and Franco’s character appears to be some type of “chosen one” whom the people of Oz have been waiting for.
