Earlier this week, Blur unveiled two new songs, “Under the Westway” and “The Puritan,” via a live video stream on Twitter. The English four-piece, who have reunited after years of separation and months of speculation, wrote the songs in honor of the 2012 Summer Olympics.
The new material is a small sampling of what fans can expect during the band’s performance at London’s Hyde Park on Aug. 12, which will bring the games to a close. The Specials and New Order are also set to perform.
While the two tracks are currently available for download online, Blur plans to release a limited edition 7-inch single on Aug. 6. Check out the in-studio performance of “Under the Westway” below.
