Bryan Cranston to Direct Episode of The Office

Breaking Bad’s Brian Cranston is set to direct an episode of The Office, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The website reported that while Cranston will direct an episode for the ninth season of the show, he will not be appearing in front of the camera.

“Free meth for The Office! (look who’s directing…),” The Office co-star Rainn Wilson tweeted earlier this week.

Cranston has also recently directed an episode of ABC’s Modern Family, which is expected to air Oct. 18. The episode is titled “Work Bus.” In the past, Cranston has directed episodes of Breaking Bad and Malcolm in the Middle.

The Office is set to return on Sept. 20 at 9 p.m. on NBC. According to Entertainment Weekly, it was also announced earlier today that this will be the show’s last season, after last season’s record low ratings.

“This year feels like the last chance to … make an artistic ending for the show,” showrunner Greg Daniels told reporters. “This will be the last season of The Office, and we’re planning a big exciting last season … all questions will be answered this year. We’re going to see who’s behind the documentary.”
