Well, the members of Divine Fits are sneaky. Britt Daniel, Dan Boeckner and Sam Brown were supposed to play their first ever live show tonight at Beerland in Austin, Texas, but they decided to deliver a surprise 12-song set last night at Austin’s Continental Club, according to Consequence of Sound.
Fans of the newly formed group wouldn’t have known, because they came as a band called The Hot Skull. Maybe the guys were surveying the live show response to the new material, testing out their set for tonight. But regardless, whoever got to see the set must have had good karma. They played tracks off the upcoming LP A Thing Called the Divine Fits and covered a Tom Petty track.
Watch footage of the band playing “My Love Is Real,” “Flaggin A Ride” and Tom Petty’s “You Got Lucky” below.
