Feist has released a new video for “Anti-Pioneer,” and it’s quite a far cry from the pillow-smashing fun of her recent Feistodon clip.
The dark and brooding take on “Anti-Pioneer”—a haunting, emotional ballad off of 2011’s Metals—was directed by Martin de Thura, who also helmed the video for “The Bad in Each Other.”
In an interview with Nowness, Feist explained her admiration for the Danish director:
Martin leaps out as this person with a really strange, beautiful language of moving poetry that isn’t spoon-feeding anything, but allows for a darkness and a buoyancy at the same time. Everything he had done I have a huge appreciation for, so I sought him out to recreate the language of those short films.
