Too soon? Apparently not for ICM Partners, who are currently looking for buyers for a movie centering around Joe Paterno and the recent Penn State scandal. The movie will be based on Paterno, Joe Posnanski’s New York Times bestseller about the late Penn State football coach. Paterno’s legacy was tarnished after he failed to take action when he got wind that his longtime assistant coach, Jerry Sandusky, might have been having inappropriate relationships with children.
According to Deadline, legendary actor Al Pacino has been tabbed to portray Paterno, and Pacino’s manager, Rick Nicita, will produce the film. Pacino, of course, already has experience playing a firey football coach through his role in Any Given Sunday. The Paterno biopic is still in the early stages of development, however, as it still lacks a script and director.
