It is finally here. After months of anticipation, all were gathered in the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts where Apple finally unveiled their latest smartphone, the iPhone 5. Complete with several new additions and features, Apple promised the iPhone 5 to be one of its best creations to date.
To begin, the iPhone 5 features a larger screen, which marks the first time the company has altered its size. Secondly, the device weighs a mere 112 grams (about 4 ounces), which is 20 percent lighter than the iPhone 4S. The iPhone 5 is also 18 percent thinner than its predecessor. Improved battery life and upgraded video quality are also included in the list of improvements.
Siri also received an upgrade and now has the capability report to users the scores of sports games as well as post status updates to Facebook. An A6 processor twice as fast as the previous version, high-speed 4G LTE connectivity, a widespread aspect ratio and a smaller dock connector round out the list of advancements from the Apple camp.
The iPhone 5 is available in black and white and will cost $199, $299 and $399 for 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models, respectively. Pre-orders begin on Friday, Sept. 14 and the iPhone 5 will officially be released on Sept. 21.
