During the closing ceremonies of the 2012 summer Olympics in England, Blur took the stage to perform what was rumored to be their final performance. To mark the special performance, the British group recorded the entire performance and are now releasing it as a five-disc set. As a preview to the upcoming release the band has released a special clip of their performance of “Under the Westway.”
“Under the Westway” was one of the new tracks that Blur was working on when frontman Damon Albarn decided to abruptly halt recording sessions. During this time, Albarn also hinted that their Hyde Park performance for the Olympics would be their last gig together. To the excitement of all Blur fans, the band finished recording “Under the Westway” and even performed it during their Olympic gig. Now the track will forever be a part of their five-disc Parklive compilation. The set includes DVD’s of their entire Hyde Park performance in addition to several CD’s of intimate recordings from the band.
