Newt Gingrich will be the next political figure making a cameo on NBC’s Parks and Rec, but unlike his predecessor Vice President Joe Biden, Gingrich’s appearance was completely unplanned.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the cast was shooting scenes at the Indianapolis St. Elmo Steak House on Monday when Gingrich walked into the restaurant. Realizing the golden opportunity that was presented to him, co-creator of the show Mike Schur quickly incorporated Gingrich’s appearance into the episode.
“It was a completely random chance. But you can’t pass up on an opportunity like that,” Schur told the Indianapolis Star|topnews|text|IndyStar.com&nclick_check=1.
Now, the episode that had the guys in Indianapolis for a bachelor party will also include a storyline about Gingrich being in town to meet with Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels.
Parks and Rec airs every Thursday at 9:30 p.m. on NBC.
