In 2010, Tim Burton brought the fantasy world of Wonderland to life with his psychedelic CGI 3D hit Alice in Wonderland. According to Entertainment Weekly, Disney has now paired up with the film’s original screenwriter to begin work on penning the sequel to the popular film.
Linda Woolverton wrote the screenplay for Burton’s modern interpretation of the classic children’s tale, which starred Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska and Helena Bonham Carter. After working with Disney for years Woolverton is responsible for penning the screenplays for some of Disney’s most successful and popular films including Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King. Audiences will next see Woolverton’s work in 2014’s Maleficent, which focuses on the evil Queen from Sleeping Beauty.
Also returning to work on the sequel of Alice In Wonderland are producers Joe Roth, Suzanne Todd and Jennifer Todd.
