Disney Sets Dates for Pirates of The Caribbean and Muppets Sequels

Update:Though Disney announced 1952 would be shown in 3D, director Brad Bird and writer Damon Lindelof have both denied this via their Twitter accounts.

According a report by Variety, Disney has made some release announcements regarding its upcoming slate earlier this morning.

The tentatively titled Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is set to hit the high seas of the summer box office on July 10, 2015. Johnny Depp has been confirmed to star. The Muppets 2, meanwhile, has been set for March 21, 2014.

Other announcements include the Sleeping Beauty revamp Maleficent, which will be released on July 2, 2014. Starring Angelina Jolie, this fantasy-thriller tells the story of Sleeping Beauty from the perspective of the film’s antagonist, the villainous witch Maleficent. Elle Fanning co-stars as Sleeping Beauty.

Also, though it’s still covered in a veil of secrecy, 1952—a film directed by Brad Bird (Mission:Impossible-Ghost Protocol), written by Damon Lindelof (Lost) and starring George Clooney—is expected to emerge on Dec. 19 in 3D.
