What do Johnny Cash and Abraham Lincoln have in common?
Well, aside from being known for their respective black attires and being generally awesome, they both now will have stamps in their likeness.
According to a report by TODAY, the United States Postal Service plans to issue a Johnny Cash stamp later this year as part of its new “Music Icons” series.
BeyondthePerf.com, a web extension of the USA Philatelic catalog, said the stamp is designed to resemble a 45 rpm record sleeve. The 1963 black-and-white portrait of Cash featured on the stamp comes courtesy of Frank Bez, who took the photograph for inclusion on a Cash greatest-hits compilation.
USPS representative Mark Saunders said that Cash will act as the first of three performing artists in the series. The other two will be revealed later this year.
Here’s hoping for the Iggy Pop stamp.
