According to Rolling Stone, psychedelic-rock duo MGMT is expected to release their third studio album in June.
Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser recorded their latest album in a cabin outside of Bufallo, N.Y. over most of 2012. Their live band was not used to record the tracks unlike their 2010 release, Congratulations.
“We’re not trying to make music that everyone understands the first time they hear it,” Goldwasser told Rolling Stone.
The album will include the song “Alien Days,” which the band debuted at the Festival Estereo Picnic in Colombia last April. VanWyngarden described the song as “about that feeling when a parasitic alien is in your head, controlling things.”
The title of the album and exact release date has not yet been released.
