Inactive since 1991, The Replacements announced last year a planned covers EP to benefit former guitarist Slim Dunlap after he suffered a stroke. Now, we have a strange zombie cover for the EP, seeming to signify The Replacements return from the dead.

As previously reported, the EP, fittingly titled Songs for Slim, will be pressed on only 250 copies of 10” vinyl and sold at auction to benefit the ailing guitarist. The lineup features founding members Paul Westerburg and Tommy Stinson, along with non-Replacements Peter Anderson (drums) and Kevin Bowe (guitar).

The release offers covers ranging from Hank Williams on”Lost Highway,” to the musical Gypsy for “Everything’s Coming Up Roses. Also appearing will be takes on Dunlap’s “Busted Up” and Gordon Lightfoot’s “I’m Not Sayin.”

Stay connected with the newly launched Songs for Slim website and Facebook page for more information about the eventual release and bidding, and cross your fingers that this is the beginning of possible future collaboration and touring from The Replacements.
