According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tina Fey is in talks for the lead female role in Walt Disney Studios’ sequel to The Muppets.

These late-stage negotiations would reunite Fey with her Invention of Lying co-star Ricky Gervais as well as Modern Family star Ty Burrell, who have both already signed on as the human stars of the European-themed film.

Details about the script are not yet released, however character descriptions explain that Fey would play a Russian prison guard if a deal is finalized. As previously reported, Jason Segel will not take part in the new addition of the Muppet franchise, but James Bobin is set to return as director and joins co-writer Nicholas Stoller to pen the script.

Bret McKenzie,Flight of the Concords star and Oscar-winning songwriter thanks to last year’s Muppets film, is also set to write new music for the buzzworthy sequel.
