Watch Ben Gibbard on The Colbert Report

While he may not be confirming the rumored Postal Service reunion just yet, Ben Gibbard nevertheless brought his A-game to The Colbert Report last night.

In the interview section that blended Colbert’s usual hilarity with a healthy dose of awkwardness, the conversation touched upon Gibbard’s decision to go by Benjamin for his solo album, Former Lives (“Benjamin looks better on an album cover”), his flannel attire (“I’m from Seattle, this is considered formal wear”) and the state of Death Cab for Cutie (don’t worry, they’re still together).

Gibbard was then joined by an all-star line-up of his contemporaries, including Aimee Mann, Ted Leo, Superchunk’s Jon Wurster and keyboardist Jamie Edwards, for the Former Lives single “Bigger Than Love.” Gibbard followed this up with a web-exclusive acoustic performance of “I’m Building a Fire”
