Deadline revealed today that Amazon and CBS have officially arranged a special deal regarding CBS’s upcoming dramatic series Under the Dome.
The deal stipulates that each episode of the serialized sci-fi drama, based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King and produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television, will be available for streaming on Amazon’s Prime Instant Video service four days after its initial airdate.
According to the Deadline article, this arrangement will help CBS offset costs. Furthermore, it served as a major factor for greenlighting the show.
“With this innovative agreement, we’re giving fans more options to watch and stay current with this serialized series, and doing so in a way that protects the Television Network’s C3 advertising window,” CBS’s Chief Corporate Content Licensing Officer Scott Koondel said in the article.
Amazon will hold exclusive streaming rights for the show, which is set to premiere next summer.
